Viewers of Mzansi Magic telenovela gomora are captivated by the wedding between Thati (Katlego Danke) and Phumlani (Buyile Mdladla).

The lead up to their wedding was expected to be filled with drama and anxiety from Thati’s family, especially her daughter Buhle Ndaba (Ama Qamata), who was unhappy that her mother was marrying her late father’s brother.

The wedding took place over a period of about three episodes, leading up to the eventual appearance of wedding crash Melusi (Zoliswa Xaluva).

Melusi is married to Gladys (Thembi Seete) and in the show he is in hospital recovering from injuries sustained during an apparent assault.

Melusi struggles to come to terms with Thati’s love for Phumlani, as he and Thati were high school sweethearts who recently rekindled their romance in an affair.

Just as Thati is making her vows, Melusi enters and his words do not move her at all, as his gate crash was his strange way of giving his blessing to their union.

There was also a dramatic appearance of Phumlani’s secret daughter Gugu. Thati was clearly annoyed by the unexpected guest, but she decided to go ahead with the wedding anyway and say, “Yes.”

The gomora weddings were shot at the beautiful wedding venue in Muldersdrif, the camera angles captured the signature high glass ceilings seen at some celebrity weddings, such as the wedding of Somizi Mhlongo and Mohale Motaung. The event company behind this wedding venue is from wedding planner to the stars, Zavion Kotze.

The guests were dressed in beautiful all-black outfits, proving that the color is becoming more and more acceptable at joyous celebrations and not just gloomy events such as funerals. We saw a similar statement at the funeral of the late rapper Rikhado “Riky Rick” Makhado, when his family and friends wore all-white outfits.

Thati wore an ivory off-shoulder dress with a detailed veil and Phumlani was dressed in a stylish white tuxedo.
