Midnight Society Responds

Dr Disrespect‘s game studio, Midnight Society recently denied stealing images from CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer, telling that it was just a placeholder from early web design.

After announcing the launch of his game studio, Midnight Society, Dr Disrespect made waves. However, his decision to give 10,000 players early access to his first game in the form of Founders Pass NFTs divided the internet.

The two-time assured fans that NFTs were not required to play the game, that they would not alter the game’s experience, and that they were intended to give Champions Club members a piece of the studio’s history.

More criticism poured in after Apex Legends streamer Inhuman pointed out that the studio used art from Cyberpunk 2077’s teaser trailer on their website, leading some fans to believe they had stolen it.

Inhuman shared a screenshot comparing the art on Midnight Society’s website to the trailer’s scene. However, it only appears for a split second, prompting him to draw a conclusion.

Studio Head Robert Bowling echoed this sentiment, saying that a web engineer “pushed an optimization that was supposed to change the fallback image for the video on the website and accidentally uploaded the incorrect image.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 trailer image will soon be removed from Midnight Society’s website.
