Nickmercs Signs With Twitch

Nick Kolcheff (Nickmercs), one of Twitch’s most prominent streamers has accepted to keep streaming on Amazon. This agreement will secure one of Twitch’s most influential creators in the future. It also comes at an important time for Twitch which already lost two streamers to YouTube Gaming.

Tyler Blevins, known as “Ninja”, made the trip to Mixer (a Microsoft-owned streaming site) in August 2019. This was what sparked the streamer talent wars. The streamer shuffles began with the signing of exclusive deals by Mixer and Twitch.

Although deal making has been slowing in recent weeks due to Microsoft’s move to close Mixer (effectively removing an entire streaming platform) from the market, the ecosystem is shifting again. DrLupo, TimTheTatman and TimTheTatman signed streaming agreements with YouTube Gaming in September. This was just days after their first meeting and almost two years later.

Kolcheff answered “yes” and “no” to an email question asking him if he thought about leaving Twitch. He pointed out that he creates content every day on other platforms.

Kolcheff did not disclose the terms of his new Twitch contract. Twitch may, however, have dug into its reserves to lure Kolcheff to remain.
