One of the most popular female streamers on Twitch Imane Anys aka Pokimane has discussed her feelings on being a streamer during her recent youtube video upload on her second channel, ‘imane’ stating that she “burnt out” and exhausted by her status as a top Twitch streamer.
Pokimane is one of the biggest influencers on the internet right now becoming the most followed female streamer on Twitch platform gaining more than 8 million followers. However, despite having a glamorous lifestyle from the outside, it seems like being a social media star is not always sunshine and rainbows.
Last year, Pokimane took a break from streaming after stating similar concerns about her mental health, but that break lasted just one month.
Now, on her recent youtube video upload, Pokimane speaks about her feelings as a streamer and internet personality as she revealed that she’s feeling “burnt out, unlike any other way I’ve been burnt out in the past.”
In the video, Pokimane revealed that she has had trouble turning down opportunities, as she worries she’ll regret missing out. She went on to say that while she’s happy with where she is in life “you can’t do the same thing forever and I just feel like it’s time for a change.” Pokimane further went on to claim that it’s time for a change in her life, and expressed disdain for the constant money-chasing culture of the modern age that runs parallel to her life as a full-time overworking streamer.
She stated; “Why do I have seven figures in my bank account? To feel like a slave to what I’m expected to do or to the capitalistic idea of making the most amount of money you can? …I just don’t want this to be my norm.” Regardless, with the support that Pokimane has been getting from her fans, it seems like she’s not taking a break anytime soon but if she did, it wouldn’t be surprising.
