Reaction to Diablo 2 Resurrected

Blizzard released Diablo 2: Resurrected on September 23rd. It is a completely remastered version the 2002 dungeon crawler, available for PC, Xbox and Switch. It has received rave reviews, despite a rough start and some review bombing. The game still lacks one fan favorite element.

Reddit, Twitter and Diablo 2: Resurrected gamers are asking when Blizzard will incorporate the Ladder system. It’s not a new question. There have been many threads about the topic for several months. They have not received a definitive response.

The competitive multiplayer element of Diablo 2 is Ladder. When a player starts a new game, they can choose to opt in to the leaderboard. Non-Ladder Ladder members can’t communicate with them and vice versa. In-game economies are created for both competitive and non-competitive players. Diablo 2 also breaks down Ladder into four modes according to difficulty, and whether players wish to use the Lord of Destruction expansion. Every six months, Ladder is reset and all Ladder characters are moved to the non-Ladder version. Players can keep Ladder-specific items, but they cannot be brought into Diablo 2.

Blizzard intends to add competitive modes to Diablo 2 Resurrected later on, but the game was released without Ladder. According to Blizzard, the delay was made to prevent overburdening the company’s systems during busy holidays. This delay allows new Diablo 2 gamers to get familiar with the game and prepare for competitive play. Some fans believe that Blizzard is using this time delay to see if any players find exploits that might disrupt ranking play. The studio has enough time to adjust Ladder to meet its needs before the game goes live.

Blizzard has also changed the way Ladder functions in Diablo 2: The Resurrected. One of these changes is more frequent restarts, but it’s not clear how short the new Ladder durations might be. Blizzard plans to reset the Resurrected ladder once every three months, according to an internet rumor. Some have speculated that the Ladder of the remaster would include four-month seasons. Blizzard has not confirmed either scenario.

It is not known when Blizzard will introduce Ladder 2: Resurrected. Blizzard has not yet made an official announcement. This leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Some fans believe that the rollout will take place in January after four months since the release of the remaster. It seems natural to begin a new year at the beginning of each year. This corresponds with the above four month cycle. Only Blizzard knows when Ladder For Diablo 2 Resurrected is available. The studio doesn’t seem to be willing to share.
