SA Police Participate in International Swat Challenge

Ten members of the Saps Special Task Force (STF) have been selected to participate in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Swat Challenge to be held in Dubai from March 13-17, 2022.

International Special Weapons and Tactics (Swat) teams are expected to compete in five challenge categories designed to test tactical and weapons professionals.

The main purpose of this event is to encourage exchange of techniques and promote the high level of tactical skills, mental focus and physical endurance of the swat teams.

The challenge takes place at Dubai’s Swat Training Facility in a world-class environment.

According to the Swat Challenge website, Dubai is committed to pursuing the highest level of police practices.

The outgoing National Commissioner General of Saps, Khehla Sitole, has sent his best wishes to the South African team.

The elite unit will leave for the competition on Friday, March 4, 2022.

“We wish the team all the best. We are confident that the team is well prepared to take on the challenges of the UAE Swat Challenge,” said Sitole.

“The members have worked hard and put in many hours to prepare for this competition. With their expertise, we are confident that the team will do their best, but above all benchmark from other countries with a view to taking home ideas to share with other members within the specialist units,” he added.

The Special Task Force (STF) is a highly specialized unit within the SAPS whose members are solely responsible for responding to high-risk incidents, including hostage-taking, search and rescue, and for providing Specialized Operational Support (SOS). to other units within the Saps.
