Sardoche is Banned From Twitch

Following the live broadcast of a political debate, Twitch streamer Andréas “Sardoche” Honnet’s Twitch channel was banned from the platform.

Twitch streamer Sardoche is one of the most well-known French-speaking Twitch streamers. We often hear his nickname when he excels in various games, as a result of his memorable reactions as well as his outspokenness.

He did not hesitate to broadcast the political debate between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Eric Zemmour on his own Twitch channel on Thursday, September 23, 2021, to remark on it and provide his perspective.

And shortly after this, the Twitch streamer got banned from the platform. After the suspension was imposed, the streamer took to social media to explain himself.

According to his tweet, the ban will last 48 hours. However, it’s clear that Sardoche wasn’t the only one who was banned that night. Akaruu, Hugo Travers, and Koumo were among the streamers who replayed the debate from BFMTV and received the same ban for the same amount of time.

It’s worth noting that BFMTV was also live-streaming the debate on its own Twitch account, which explains these claims. Opinions on the TV channel’s accusations disagree, but Twitch has proven them correct with these countless bans, which aren’t overly severe and act more as a warning than anything else at the time.

It will be important to determine whether streamers will be able to legally re-broadcast debates of this nature that are broadcast on a television channel that uses Twitch in the future.
