Vanguard Twitch Viewership Plummeting

As Vanguard’s Twitch viewership plummets, Call of Duty players are experiencing the full range of emotions. It’s now gotten to the point where the game has as many viewers as… people sleeping on the stream.

Twitch is a fascinating platform, but its viewership doesn’t always reveal everything about a game’s popularity. However, it’s still a good way to gauge interest in a game and compare it to others.

While ASMR or hot tub streams could easily outperform a multiplayer shooting game, Vanguard is up against tougher, sleepier competition. Twitch viewers appear to be just as interested in watching streamers sleep as they are in playing the latest Call of Duty game, as some have noticed.

Vanguard appears to have tied with the “I’m Only Sleeping” category with a modest 3.1k each.

As you can see in the graph above, Vanguard and “I’m Only Sleeping” had the same number of viewers at one point. For CoD fans, this isn’t the most exciting news, as they quickly expressed their disappointment.

FaZe Kalei, who has considered switching to Apex Legends herself, commented on how Black Ops 3 used to have “30k viewers all the time.”

Aydan, a popular Warzone streamer who recently switched to Apex Legends, also chimed in. The highest-earning player simply threw down a laughing emoji, joining the ranks of those who find the state of the Call of Duty franchise amusing.

It’s worth noting that “I’m Only Sleeping” is a video game, but its genre has been largely co-opted by streamers who sleep while live streaming. Viewers were just as interested in sleeping streamers as they were in Vanguard streamers with this in mind.

The Call of Duty franchise is currently at a fork in the road. There are concerns about the direction of the games and the company’s treatment of its employees. For Vanguard to reach a redemption arc, these concerns may need to be addressed.
