VTuber IRyS Loses Hundreds Of Subscribers

Popular VTuber ‘IRyS,’ was in the middle of a successful subscriber goal stream when she suddenly lost hundreds of subscribers — but she wasn’t deterred.

Subscriptions are the bread and butter of streamers. Fans pay a monthly fee to receive perks from their favorite broadcasters, which is a common practice on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

Several steamers also organize ‘subathons,’ in which they add time to their broadcasts for every new subscriber, sometimes resulting in months-long streams.

Other streamers, such as popular VTuber IRyS, prefer less intensive methods of incentivizing their viewers to subscribe.

IRyS is a virtual YouTuber who, rather than showing her face on camera, uses an anime avatar to represent herself.

IRyS is an English-language streamer with over 802,000 subscribers who specializes in creating original songs, gaming, and karaoke. She’s signed to one of the biggest VTuber agencies in the business, and her official title is a ‘VSinger.’

However, she fell well below the 800k mark during her March 28th karaoke broadcast, where she promised to sing to her fans until she reached 800k subscribers.

She initially surpassed 800,000 subscribers in just 15 minutes of streaming and decided to keep singing to see how far she could go, but a YouTube system glitch caused her to drop to 799,818 subscribers out of nowhere.

Fortunately, IRyS handled the sudden drop gracefully and managed to find the humor after seemingly achieving her goal, despite her surprise.

IRyS is the latest VTuber to reach subscriber milestones; Mori Calliope, who has been on the platform for just over two years, recently reached 2 million subscribers, marking yet another major victory for the growing online genre.
