WillNeff is a pretty big streamer on Twitch, having first set up his channel in 2016 after some pushing from friend HasanAbi, and since then they’ve both grown and blown up in their own ways and become staples of the platform. Back in May 2021, he was suddenly banned from the platform leaving both him and his viewers thoroughly perplexed. It turns out that he got DMCA ban after he watched a clip of Samurai Jack on Youtube.

Now, with the discussion over DMCA has once again arisen due to twitch star xQc challenging the Olympics with a counterclaim, WillNeff delved deep into the strange DMCA ban that he received. During his recent live broadcast, WillNeff reveals the bizarre reason for the ban and it serves as a major warning to others on the platform. According to him, the problem came when he pushed the video for too long and it resulted with his ban.

Here’s what he said; “I watched 30 seconds to teach a film course about contrast and frame. But, because I paused on the frame for too long, their automated service said that I watched 10 minutes of content. Because I paused on that clip for too long, the automation said that I basically watched a whole episode! So, I auto-filed a DMCA claim.”

The clip in question was under two minutes long, so it’s not even possible for him to have watched anything longer. WillNeff said that after he spoke to the brand and had a talk with Adult Swim, even they felt it was ridiculous.
