Your PC did not start correctly? Here’s what you need to do

So try putting your virus protection on pause for a while. If the problem does not occur when the antivirus program is turned off, consider changing it or switching to Windows Defender.

Another antivirus solution we should mention is Bitdefender. This antivirus is a simple source extraction and, above all, it will not affect your system in any way. If your antivirus is the problem, consider switching to Bitdefender.

Solution 5 – Recovery system

It is possible that unwanted changes have been made to your computer. In such a situation there is no better option than system restore! If you need to revert to a previous working version, a system restore is the most logical solution. If you have a good restore point, the procedure of changing the Windows 10 time will not take too long.

If you are not sure how to perform a system restore in Windows, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click in the Start menu and open the Control Panel.
  2. In the category view, open System and Security.
  3. Click on File History.
  4. Open Restore in the lower left corner.
  5. Click on the Open System Restore button.
  6. Click Next until the list of available restore points appears.
  7. Confirm the selection and start the recovery process.

Once the system restore is complete, the problem should be gone and everything should work again. If the problem persists, proceed with the following solution.

Solution 6 – Reconfigure boot configuration data

If you cannot boot normally after following all the above steps, it is possible that the boot configuration data is corrupted. Moreover, some important files may be deleted or a system update itself may cause problems. In either case, you will need to recreate the boot configuration data to fix this problem.

This is a complicated process, so follow the instructions carefully:

  1. Open the advanced options of the error screen.
  2. Select the command line.
  3. On the command line, type the following command and press Enter :
  4. Now, there are two scenarios that can happen:
    • Total number of Windows installations identified : 0. Continue with step 5.
    • Total number of Windows installations identified : 1. Type Y, press Enter, and restart the computer.
  5. On the command line, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
    • bcdedit /export c:bcdbackup
    • Attribute c:bootbcd -h -r -s
    • ren c:bootbcd bcd.old
    • bootrec /rebuildbcd
  6. Type Y or J and press Enter.
  7. Restart the computer and you are ready to go.

On the other hand, there is something else that can be downloaded in addition to the boot configuration data. And then there’s the Master Boot Record.

Solution 7 – Recover damaged master boot record

The Master Boot Record (MBR) is a special boot sector that stores the configuration and boot information on your hard drive. If it is damaged or incomplete, you will not be able to start your computer normally. This problem can cause many errors and is not easy to fix, especially without installation or recovery support. However, there is always a way, and you should be able to perform this action by following these instructions:

  1. Open additional options on the error screen.
  2. Open the command line.
  3. On the command line , type chkdsk /r and wait for the repair to complete.
  4. If the problem persists, you may need to add additional commands to make it work.
  5. On the command line, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
    • bootrec /RebuildBcd
    • bootrec /fixMbr
    • bootrec /fixboot
  6. Restart the computer and check the changes.

This should resolve the Master Boot Record issue and you are good to go.

Solution 8 – Remove updates

If this error occurred after the last update, you should probably remove the update and revert to an earlier version of the system. Here’s what you need to do to restore system updates:

  1. Go to Settings > Updates and Security > Windows Update.
  2. Go to Update history > Remove updates.
  3. Now find the last installed update on your computer (you can sort the updates by date), right click on it and go to Uninstall.
  4. Restart your computer.

If the problem persists, Microsoft recommends that you contact Technical Support for further troubleshooting.
